Beth A. Heffernan

Legal Experience:
Prior to joining Katz, Goldstein & Warren, Ms. Heffernan was the Vice President and General Counsel of a sports consulting organization in Chicago.  She also has extensive experience in taxation, as Tax Manager at Deloitte Tax LLP and Associate at KPMG LLP.  During her tenure with KPMG, she worked abroad in the firm’s Sao Paulo, Brazil office, advising multi-national clients on inbound and outbound tax planning strategies.

Ms. Heffernan is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Lake County Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association and Association of Women Attorneys of Lake County.

Ms. Heffernan is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois.

Educational Background:
Ms. Heffernan received her Bachelor’s degree in Communications, cum laude, from Arizona State University and earned her Juris Doctor along with a Masters of Law in Taxation from The John Marshall Law School.  While in law school, she interned at the Office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service and studied Comparative Constitutional Law and International Trade Law at the University of Nairobi, College of Law, in Kenya.

Accolades and Awards:
Ms. Hefferman was named an Illinois “Super Lawyers Rising Star” in 2015.  She was a Regional Champion and 3rd Place National Semi-Finalist in the American Association for Justice Trial Competition in 2005. She also served as President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund of The John Marshall Law School from 2005 – 2007.
